A key theme this year was design not just as execution, but as a strategic driver. We left with insights on how to apply strategic thinking at different stages — and how to lead direction through design.
Klaes Igelstrøm from Bouvet guided us expertly through a workshop on future foresighting, helping us expand our strategic toolbox for supporting clients as they position for the future. The conference also offered useful tools for handling everyday collaboration, especially when it comes to making life easier for developers.

But, the perhaps most important key take away here, is that design needs to drive action – not only thought. As designers, but also as organisations, we need to talk less and do more. Strategic thinking is great – but only when followed by strategic action.

Design as a strategic driver – more action, less talk

Of course, there was still time for a deep dive into the craft, with talks and workshops on typography, visual design, and the continuing value of manual sketching.


Accessibility and inclusive design continue to be central to our community. This year, those topics were effectively woven into talks on communication and content. It’s encouraging to see content design and language take a more prominent role in the design of digital platforms. There’s growing awareness that strong content is essential, not just for good design, but for universal design and accessibility too.

The craft is still alive – and content is growing

One surprise? Almost no talk of AI. That might seem odd in 2025, but also quite refreshing. Perhaps we all need a break from the hype to refocus on what really matters: the role of design and how it can help shape the future for all users.

Last, but not least, a special mention and thank you to Sofie Staal from Innovation Norway for sharing her personal story of experience harassment and inspiring us to be courageous and daring to speak up in all kinds of situations. Kudos to Yggdrasil organisers for providing the arena to speak about such an important topic as harassment in the workplace. It was encouraging to see the unanimous support that Sofie received from the audience.
