Through user interviews, extensive prototyping, and testing, we could ensure that the product fills both the needs of users and a gap in the market. 

Ventac features integrated handles that enable good grip and allow for the use of protective gloves while lifting. The side panels are easily attached and removable for inspection. The design is scalable and adapts to both 25 kW and 50 kW.

Ventac’s lightweight design makes it easy to transport to new work sites and around the workshop or factory on a robust trolley with room for cables. No lift is needed – good for staff health and workplace logistics.

Saltdalshytta now has a new standard for its operations, even before there have been legally mandated requirements. They receive goodwill from customers, municipalities, and other partners and are seen as an attractive employer that takes social responsibility.

Saltdalshytta -  A more nature-friendly cabin concept

Each location and scenario offers the user a realistic and immersive experience of extreme weather conditions. For example, the user might experience an avalanche and afterward receive a set of suggestions for how this catastrophe could have been avoided or had its impact reduced. In this case, planning trees could have prevented the avalanche.

During the project, new versions of the app were made available weekly for everyone involved. This continued delivery ad testing helped shape a result that was supported by everyone.

By researching different scenarios and cases and interviewing field experts (geologists, climate specialists, etc), we could design realistic and credible scenarios and experiences. The data in the app was imported directly from NGI (Norway’s Geotechnological Institute) and is based on climate research data.

Safer patient pathways through improved transitions

When developing the Bilista brand, we took great care to create an identity with a solid base and a clear position. EGGS has helped identify everything from vision and values to visual identity, brand core, and copy. 

Bilista is connected to several different service providers, such as Flyt. Users can pay bills, order toll tags, calculate toll costs, and more. The app automatically updates information about the vehicle via Statens Vegvesen. 

The Bilista symbol is the core of the visual identity, and the strongest visual brand element. It is the first visual the user encounters  (in the App store/Google play). The symbol alone will give direct associations to Bilista.   The symbol is based on the environment in which the car moves - the road. The brand's symbol is built up in 2D of these roads - consisting of curves, lines, meeting points, intersections and angles, in combination with the letter "b", and correlates with the symbol of mother-brand Gjensidige.

The Bilista platform gathers all the services you need as a car owner in one place. Users can read about the app on the bilista website.  The app is available in both App Store and Google Play."

In the experimentation, we could take a step further – from the gigamaps to the real world to test a new way of collaboration across sectors and departments. This allowed us to test different interventions safely and quickly.

From being an emerging technology in the mid-2010s, the drone industry has matured rapidly. With a projected annual growth rate of 26%, analysts estimate the industry could become a disruptor in a wide array of areas within five to ten years. In 2018, the Norwegian government published its drone strategy, proposing that Norway be a frontrunner in adopting and developing the industry.

Strategizing the future of drones

The Iola induction kit consists of three parts: A balloon catheter, a speculum, and a prefilled unit (for filling the balloon). All these parts are designed to feel as comfortable and non-invasive as possible for the pregnant woman. The materials are smooth and soft to the touch (traditional speculums are made of metal), and the shapes are rounded. Most importantly – each part is designed to adjust to a pregnant woman's body.

The competition in the maritime industry is increasing, and shipowners are continuously searching for new ways of optimizing performance and reducing cost and, at the same time, complying with stricter regulations within sustainability and safety. Bringing the whole ship into this digital ecosystem enables new ways of facing the challenges.

The digital interfaces are carefully designed with the users' goals and operational context in mind. This ensures quick and intuitive access to crucial information and immediate situation awareness - even in the most stressful situations.

ScanReach’s trial program, involving ships with the technology up and running, provided valuable, real-life insights in the process. It helped us prioritise what functionality should go into the solution and how. We worked closely with ScanReach technology and market expertise, contributing with digital design (UX/UI), front-end development, and service design for the customer journey. 

A greener, safer, and smarter maritime sector

EGGS has contributed with digital design (UI and UX), user insights, onboarding flow, and front-end coding of VPS' planning tool Core. Visualizing the simulations of the impact of actions to reduce emissions makes it easier for shipowners to make informed and effective decisions. We built the solution from scratch using Next.js JavaScript framework.

Dynamic maritime emission tracking software 

The new bus service aims to provide a sustainable, appealing, and most importantly, accessible way of using public transport. Passengers should feel that it's an easy and pleasant experience to use the new service and that they're proud to use it. Ultimately, the goal is to make people take the bus more often – instead of using their car. 

The presence of a green line runs throughout both exterior and interior design of the busses. We have also used icons and brand pattern consequently through the design. This is all part of creating a holistic and visually cohesive experience for the user.

In this project, we have helped create storytelling and a design concept that can be communicated to all stakeholders, including politicians and providers, as well as internally in Kolumbus and the Rogaland County municipality. The story helps explain why the bus shelters/stops are designed the way they are and how they fit into the service as a whole.

The design concept and guidelines are meant to explain the delivery specifications in the procurement process. An essential part of the bus shelters' design is that it represents the identity of Kolumbus and Bylinjen without being too costly.

The robot is now a manufactured prototype of an external shell, where all electronics and sensitive moving parts are entirely and partially enclosed with water-tight casing or panels.

The leg structure and enclosing of electronics have been redeveloped as part of the casing design, and an internal enclosure has been added that protects the main electronics from any water or dust. Fixtures and updated placements have also greatly improved ease of use, particularly when removing and inserting elements, such as the lithium-power pack.

Sketching and early CAD prototyping provided mediums to explore and experiment with the different options for specific robot parts. It has also offered an opportunity to explore the overall visual impact and develop the look and feel in alignment with the brand direction. The collaboration and development have been remote, with EGGS' team split between Denmark and Norway and BladeBUG based in London in the UK.

Planning charging is simple via Circle K’s app.

After mapping out user journeys and touchpoints, we began prototyping, user testing, and iterating on different concepts and designs. We then developed the touchpoints for each service throughout the ecosystem.

The touchpoints included the visual design for Circle K's fast chargers and home chargers, packaging, brochures, instructions, wayfinding at stations, and Circle K's website circlekcharge.no. The website we designed and coded in collaboration with Circle K's developers.

The project's initial focus was to investigate Ulstein's pre-sales and concept-development phases. However, we also discovered that the transitions between the different stages, especially in the later ones, could run smoother. We then focused on identifying how emotions play an integral part in this journey and how Ulstein can identify essential touchpoints to make the experience seamless.

After each case, the users can reflect on the observations individually or discuss them in a group setting for collective learning.

To make the training realistic, simulations are built with voice control, forcing the users to say the right things with the appropriate tone of voice to the ‘patient' to get the desired result.

In the project, EGGS and Scale AQ have worked intensely to include sustainability as one of the core values. The aim is to recognize and speak openly about challenges, establish general acceptance and goodwill by showing best practices, and raise global industry standards.

We’re thrilled that our contribution with business design, service design, and brand transformation has helped enable a smooth fusion of the different company cultures.

Strategy and brand for an aquaculture merger

Our first project let us gain insight from various users, both internally in the organisation and from customers. Based on these insights we crafted a new product identity and a new range of home alarm products for Sector Alarm.

The product suite uses lights, sounds and shapes to communicate status and control options, which minimized experienced stress in an arming or disarming situation. As an example, to avoid accidental arming, the arming function in the app uses a slider instead of buttons, and the keypad requires a ‘long press’.

A stress-free home security experience

Familelos is a public service for families who need cross-disciplinary services. 'Familielosen' aims to coordinate services for the whole family, and the goal is that the families receive better, more holistic services.

Nye Øygarden – The merger of three municipalities 

The system sends information about the amount and type of lice to a control centre via a cloud-based solution in real-time. All this without manually handling the fish.

The device, composed of a camera and sensors, continuously and automatically counts lice on the salmon as they are swimming in the cage. The improved precision of sea lice counting can provide valuable data which can help get a better overview of the sea lice situation throughout the Norwegian aquaculture industry and contribute to further research on the salmon lice problem.

Stokke Xplory® X is a premium product where details and CMF (colours, materials, and finishing) are essential to create a look and feel that reflects the quality of the product. In this project, we have worked together with the client to ensure high quality and an aesthetically pleasing redesign that is aligned with future designs, materials, and colour trends.

In redesigning the seat, we increased the coverage of the seat structure with an enveloping textile design. This gives the seat a softer look and increased "boldness" with more exposed color. We have also redesigned the canopy and enhanced the clean, tailored aesthetics. We identified the harness with Stokke typography for strengthened branding and new harness protectors for comfort.

In the work with CMF (Colours, Materials, Finishing), we made sure to balance the color scheme to fit the Xplory market with clear statement colours. We also ensured that they were aligned with the trend forecasts.

Revitalising an iconic product

To transform ideas into initiatives, we invited a cross-disciplinary healthcare team to a 3-day design sprint. The goal was to ensure that wound patients got faster, better assessment, and quicker treatment, thereby avoiding any further degeneration or chronic issues.

We made all the user insights available to healthcare staff. Key findings showed that patients didn't express health-related concerns as their most pressing concern at the hospital. They expected and felt they were met with consistent and high levels of physical treatment. "Feeling safe" and "empowered" were keywords the patients conveyed.

Redesigning daycare at Stavanger University Hospital

Solarferry is an electric, solar-powered ferry created to transport tourists and leisure type users along the banks of Lake of Tunis. The exterior of Solarferry boasts modern, dynamic lines and openness. SINTEF asked for a concept inspired by Scandinavian Design that would work anywhere. 

The interior design was created, blending Scandinavian simplicity and minimalism with Tunisian culture and traditional patterns, for example, on the wall behind the bar and the tables. VR (virtual reality) was used in the process to simulate the results.

The Design was also adapted to nighttime, using lighting to create a pleasant atmosphere and keep the space safe. All the interior design was developed in close collaboration with the interior designer in Tunisia, CUBIC Design. 

Designing a solar-powered passenger ferry

We created a roadmap for the implementation process, which details the steps the port and companies need to take to achieve the shared vision of a more sustainable port.

The port is a complex ecosystem with numerous stakeholders composed of 200 different companies and several different industries. We facilitated the dialogue through visualization and workshops to ensure all were aligned toward the goal.

Establishing a collaborative port ecosystem

All public buildings in the Nordic region and many throughout the EU are now legally required to choose products that follow universal design guidelines.

Katrin Inclusive comprises nine different paper, soap, or disinfectant dispensers.

Insights showed that visually impaired struggled to detect the paper or understand how dispensers were operated, so we created a bold contrasting area on the interactive surfaces. On the paper towel dispenser, we incorporated a solution where the paper comes out of the front instead of from underneath.

User-friendly hygiene dispensers with universal design

A crucial factor for an app is good universal accessibility. We performed tests with screen readers for blind users and optimal visual settings for visually impaired users. Before the launch, the beta version was tested on several thousand users. The bank's over 6000 employees played an important part here.

Secure and convenient mobile banking

The product, called vitro.alive, has integrated sensors, heater and control system and it is designed to control circulating cell culture medium. It uses and external pump to create flow and it fits on standard microscope stages. This allows live observation of cells under controlled conditions.

UX and UI for accurate non-human lab-testing

Ditt Spor is the first tool of its kind on the market and is available to everyone. It guides organisations in identifying tracks ("spor") to make concrete improvements or take new action to make them more sustainable.

When creating Ditt spor, we relied on user testing to make evidence-based decisions. We validated many different business ideas before landing on developing Ditt Spor.

The pedestal which fixates the helmet inside the box in is designed without glue, and in such a way that it can be assembled only through folding.

In redesigning the boxes, we took advantage of the opportunity to improve the product information display. By gathering generic product information in one place, we created more clean areas that can be used for brand communication and specific model information. We also created a flexible modular label system that is easy to build on and arrange according to the product model. The label stretches from top to bottom on the front. This way, you get all the necessary information both when the box is in the distribution packaging and standing on the shop shelf.  

Optimising logistics through packaging design 

The design is clean and minimal to express the company's Scandinavian roots. Everything is smooth and friendly-looking, so Ava's security cameras appear less menacing than traditional surveillance equipment.

Aside from being streamlined, EGGS helped design Ava's surveillance cameras to be robust, waterproof, and easy to install. We've optimised their installation by ensuring the camera assembly and cable management are safe and intuitive, even when mounted high up. The aluminium camera casings are vandal-proof and highly durable, and in either a black or white matt finish, they are intended to be unobtrusive yet smart-looking.

Ava’s logo and design elements are developed from heritage design elements from the former Jazz and Vaion identities. The curves and elliptic details are found in our physical products and existing brand identities. The Ava logo and pattern elements are derived from this, building continuity and uniqueness throughout our product and solution range.

During the design process, we collaborated closely with engineers and data analytics to develop the solution. We have gathered user insights from the clinicians and user-tested the design continuously.

Designing a superior airport experience 

By breaking up the results report into smaller paragraphs and adding clear visuals that guide the reader through the information, we can ensure a more correct, quicker reading of the results and prevent misinterpretations.

 In a benchmarking exercise that DNV GL performed with three participating clinical geneticists, healthcare professionals both missed crucial information in the hypothetical report and believed information to be present, which was, in fact, absent. This could have a potentially negative impact on patient well-being.

The traditional, text-heavy paper delivery mechanism is ripe for reinterpretation. The human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, with 90% of information being transmitted to the brain being visual. Given the clinician's everyday reality, a visual representation of results will improve the speed and quality of comprehension.

Simplified communication in diagnosis of genetic disease

The recyclability calculator makes calculations based on detailed information about the packaging the designers enter into the calculator. It then calculates a score, which is given in % of total recyclability.

However, if we see the same increase in the coming years as the previous, we need to recycle 62500 tons more in 2025 compared with 2017.

Branding the value of a med-tech offering

The Stode app is designed for first responders, helping them make informed and quick decisions in a triage situation. The app talks to a wearable biosensor that gives information on vital signs such as heart rate variability (HRV), respiration rate, and pulse oximetry. With this data, it uses the so-called Triage system to tell the user what state the patient is in.

In addition to the app itself, we developed an easy-to-use onboarding section in the app where the user quickly learns how to use both the app and the biosensor patch correctly.

TOMRA RollPac is a vertical backroom solution that utilizes height to increase the volume of stored cans and bottles. Thanks to its functional design, it enables store staff to work a lot faster: changing the bin now takes 20 seconds compared to 5 minutes on previous solutions. It is also a lot more ergonomic, minimising lifting.

Data liberation will be crucial for Aker BP to run an even safer, more efficient production, which also helps reduce pollution and energy consumption. Accessible data also helps make informed decisions faster and enables testing and simulations.

EGGS is helping Aker BP, through gathering user insights, agile coaching, and facilitation, to develop its own way of innovating. The aim is to improve both the usability and accessibility of their data by structuring it into prototypes.

Becoming agile and developing ways to adapt to change is vital for any company. Eureka will, consequently, equip Aker BP with tools and culture to confidently acclimatize to a rapidly changing future.
