The final step of developing a robot
Since Autumn of 2021, EGGS Design has been working with leading robotics company BladeBUG on an EU-funded project from the RIMA organisation to further develop their advanced maintenance and inspection robot for the wind turbine industry. The robot has now had it’s first outing at the Global Offshore Wind conference in June in Manchester, UK.
BladeBUG, a robotics company in the UK, and EGGS Design, design and innovation consultancy, are completing a 10 month EU-funded project from the RIMA Network. The project has concerned further development of their advanced maintenance and inspection robot for the wind turbine industry. It has resulted in a manufactured prototype of an external shell, where all electronics and sensitive moving parts are entirely and partially enclosed with water-tight casing or panels.
The updated robot had it’s first outing at the Global Offshore Wind conference this month in Manchester, UK, where BladeBUG had the recently assembled casing displayed at their stand. In July, the first technical tests and user feedback will be performed to finalise the project. The project was supported by RIMA (Robotics for Inspection and Maintenance) network and their consortium of 13 European Digital Innovation hubs (DIH).
